That’s when the idea for Scihand took shape — a project created to support others and help democratize access to science through simple, accessible tools for exploration and discovery.

It’s natural to wonder how a free website with so many tools and resources can sustain itself.
All Scihand tools are optimized to use as few server resources as possible. Because of that, hosting costs remain very low — low enough that we can cover them without much difficulty.
In addition, the site and tools displays Google Ads. They don’t fully cover the costs, but they do help. So we kindly ask that you keep your ad blocker turned off while using the site. It helps us continue offering everything for free and making science more accessible to everyone.
Worried this might be one of those independent websites that disappears overnight? Don’t worry! Scihand is here to stay for many, many years — or at least until an asteroid wipes out the planet (which we’re definitely not rooting for!).
The site is inexpensive to maintain, we truly enjoy working on this project, and we still have plenty of ideas we’re excited to bring to life. So stick around — there’s a lot more to come!
